For Fantasy Film Lovers FANT 09: KaleFANT   Bosco El Tosco y su puta banda

The Bilbao Fantasy Film Festival, FANT, reaches this year its fifteenth edition with a program that will certainly be appealing for lovers of this film genre, to whom we will be able to bring a great selection of the most interesting films that the Fantastique has produced during the past year. What makes it so attractive is the fact that the most interesting film productions do not always reach commercial screens, this way the official section of the festival will be entirely composed by premieres in Bilbao, brought by filmmakers from the United States, Mexico, Korea, along with a selection of European authors. Some of them are old friends of our festival who honor us with their presence and prove that the festival is beginning to gain a certain recognition out of our borders.
This way, a total of eight films will be competing for this year's award for best film which will be awarded by a jury made up by famous people from Bilbao who have made it into the film industry: Haritz Zubillaga, Leire Berrocal and Pablo Berger.

But the appeals of FANT do not end with the official section. We have other sections of great interest for anyone interested in cinema, beyond the genre to which this festival is dedicated. I am referring to sections like the ones dedicated to documentaries or to legendary filmmakers who got themselves into this world of fantasy and horror.
On the other hand, this year FANT opens a second headquarters in the San Francisco Local Center with a section called "Bilbao Grindhouse" which aims to pay tribute to those neighbourhood theaters, including the Biscay Hall, in which we spent our Sunday nights.
The film offer is completed by children's morning sessions, FANTESKOLA, the SHORT FANT FILMS section (which has a new Best Short Film Audience Award) and the shorts and animation Internet contest that the cultural website Nontzeberri organizes.
Along with it all, there is an offer of parallel shows which include live music, meetings with filmmakers and even gastronomy inspired by cinema. In short, we try to propose a series of activities focused on fantasy film, not just movie showings, but contribute to create a certain recreational atmosphere around this genre. Because, for some strange reason, those who enjoy vampires, mutants or aliens stories tend to keep up the party out of the theater once the showing is over.
